Facial cellulitis: An 8-year- old girl presented with fever and a facial rash. The rash was preauricular and violaceous with central induration. This presentation is suggestive of facial or buccal cellulitis, a rare but potentially life-threatening infection caused by Haemophilus influenzae (suggested by a purple hue to the rash), Streptococcus group B and Streptococcus pneumoniae.
