Corneal ulcer: A 23-year- old man presented with a 2-day history of right eye pain, decreased vision, photophobia, and redness. The patient wore extended-wear contact lenses. A 2-mm, round, poorly circumscribed white infiltrate is seen at the 12-o'clock position just superior to the visual axis. This area demonstrated uptake with fluorescein staining that was consistent with an epithelial defect. There were moderate cells and flare of the anterior chamber. The limbus was markedly injected. Pain with an epithelial defect and corneal infiltrate was suggestive of a corneal ulcer. (L.S.)
