Erythema Migrans of Lyme borreliosis

Caused by Borrelia burgdorferi, Lyme disease is common in the northeast United States and in Wisconsin and Minnesota. It is carried by Ixodes spp. of ticks. The rash occurs in 2/3 of those infected, with a solitary lesion characteristic of Stage 1 disease, and multiple lesions characteristic of disseminated Stage 2 disease.
